Discussion led by Rabbi Menachem Creditor and Maital Friedman on repairing the relationship between North American and Israeli Jews. Selichot services follow from 10-11p.m. Rabbi Creditor serves as the Pearl and Ira Meyer Scholar in Residence at UJA-Federation in New York. Named by Newsweek as one of the 50 most influential rabbis of America, he has authored 15 books and has been a contributor to The Times of Israel, the Huffington Post, The Forward and other media outlets. Rabbi Creditor founded and chairs Rabbis Against Gun Violence and serves as founding board member of the One America Movement. He was formerly spiritual leader of Congregation Netivot Shalom in Berkeley, CA. Maital Friedman is Muslim Leadership Initiative Alumni Director at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, helping to strengthen a deeper understanding of American Jewry among Muslim communities. She has previously served as Senior Program Director at Repair the World and before that was a Dorot Fellow, volunteering and studying in Israel, where she directed and produced a film on women’s religious identity. She is married to Rabbi Adam Baldachin.
